At this cash luncheon, officers of the ABTA will answer your questions, introduce you to other teachers new to the organization, and review the agenda for the Seminar and the Convention immediately following.  We will help make your time in Washington D.C. both enjoyable and memorable.

There are 2 entrée choices available:  grilled chicken pannini sandwich with French fries or a grilled mozzarella and red pepper pannini sandwich with potato chips.  There will be cupcakes for dessert, along with coffee, tea or iced tea.  The cost is $25.00/person and your check may be sent in advance of the luncheon to Joyce Penn.  Please indicate your choice of entrée.

There is a limit of 40 persons who can attend, so place your reservation early by calling or emailing Joyce (614.451.8680) jpenn@columbus.rr.com.

Teacher Activity Wednesday Night (July 22) By Nancy Abbott, Virginia,
2009 ABTA Convention Hostess

On Wednesday, July 22, 2009, we will be picked up at 6:30 p.m. at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel by a 40-seat Old Town Trolley. We will load up the dinners and dessert and 40 participants and be off for a 3-hour tour of Washington DC. We will begin with the new FDR Monument along the Tidal Basin where we will walk the outdoor rooms of the monument reading the inspirational quotations, so appropriate for these difficult economic times. We will also have dinner in the vicinity of the memorial overlooking the Potomac.

Then it's off to more inspiring sites and back to the hotel. Cost of the tour and  dinner is $50 per person. Please get your reservations in ASAP.

The alternative activity is a short walk to the National Zoo to see pandas, Siberian Tigers and lots of other fascinating animals. The admission is free and dinner will be with your friends in one of the neighborhood restaurants which are many and have varied cuisines. A short walk back to the hotel and bridge tables will be set up in our conference room for conversation and cards. Event cancelled as of July 13th - closed on July 22nd.

We are delighted to have ABTA here in Washington again and hope you will join in the fun activities we have planned. See you in July!
